Fresh Fish Market is a family owned business, Bobby Palmer and his sister Mag have owned the business for 13 years, born in Tauranga via Matakana Island. Its growth has been due to the quality of product and conscientious attention to detail. This has ensured our customers keep returning and proudly bring their visitors to taste a little bit of “Kiwiana” NZ style, simple and simply delicious.
We have very loyal hardworking staff, many of whom have been with us from the beginning. Our Fish filleting team led by Crusty, with Willie who is deaf, but always seems to know what is going on. Our team in the shop ably led by Waka, Peata and Naomi our most experienced staff, very knowledgable and totally unflappable. Bobby Palmer who can always be found sitting in “his office“, out on a BBQ table usually with people stopping by to have a chat or meeting.
What we do
Our fresh fish is caught locally and you can watch it filleted in our cutting room. Take it home fresh or you can choose and watch it being cooked for you. From the Deli there is a huge selection of fresh New Zealand seafood to choose from, NZ green lipped mussels, pacific oysters, kina’s or freshly manuka smoked fish or seafood kebabs.
We are famous for our scrumptious Fish and Chips, using only Fresh fish and cooked in a light crispy secret batter.
We are right on the waters edge, I am sure the boats and seagulls add to the flavour and appetite.
