Come and discover one of the world’s premier military aviation collections at the Air Force Museum of New Zealand...
Whether you live locally or are visiting Christchurch for the first time, are mad about aviation, or simply want a great day out for the whole family, the Air Force Museum has something for you. Fully interactive flight simulators and educational, hands-on displays will amaze while our guided tours take you exploring behind the scenes to see our fascinating restoration projects in action. With so much to see and do at the Air Force Museum we recommend 2-3 hours for a visit - though many stay longer!
We also offer a great range of activities for prebooked groups - enjoy a delicious morning or afternoon tea in our authentic wartime home with a 1940s Tea Party, view a selection of historic black and white films from our archives with Reeling Back Time, bring your group for a Holiday Programme Visit or have your Kids' Party with us and experience a bombing raid!
Since 1987 it has been our mission to preserve and present the history of New Zealand Military Aviation for commemoration, inspiration, learning and enjoyment. Our collection items number in the millions – from aircraft, engines and assorted parts to medals, weapons, pin-ups and parachute-silk wedding dresses.
At the Air Force Museum you can marvel at our collection of 28 classic aircraft, be inspired by the bravery of present and past servicemen, servicewomen and their families, fly a simulator, experience life in the Air Force and step back in time into a replica 1940’s home. Your journey through the Air Force Museum of New Zealand will be something very special.
