Himmelsfeld Vineyard sits high on a north-west facing Moutere clay hilltop, and has been gently terraced to capture the all important Nelson sun and to facilitate exposure to ventilation.
The site was chosen for its suitability to traditional vine cultivation methods and is totally hand-managed.

This is boutique wine making at its best with the focus on quality and careful attention to vine leaf-fruit ratio to ensure optimal fruit ripening and flavour intensity.

Grapes are sourced only from Himmelsfeld vineyard, grown in renowned Moutere clay. The vineyard consists of one acre each of Sauvignon Blanc, Chardonnay, and Cabernet Sauvignon which allows for the dedicated hands-on management that Himmelsfeld prides itself on.  An acre of Viognier was planted in 2006.

Notable characteristics in wines from Moutere grown grapes are their firmness in youth, whilst being underpinned with a latent potential, that will “blossom with time”.

To ensure Himmelsfeld wines are at their best, the release of wines is delayed until they have achieved sufficient bottle age whilst having an acid balance that retains life with cellaring.

It is this level of care that has led to Himmelsfeld’s consistency in achieving high-level awards at major wine competitions. Himmelsfeld is proud to have received awards for each and every wine from all vintages, since first release.
