Welcome to Catlins Blowhole Backpackers

Two cosy cottages offering affordable accommodation in Owaka in the beautiful Catlins region on the South Island of New Zealand.  Small, fun and clean!  Each house has individually decorated rooms with either double, twin or no more than 3 single beds.  No bunk beds!  All beds fully made with duvet, pillow and sheets.  Heaters in every room, doubles and twin room also have electric blankets.

Fully equipped kitchens with cooker, microwave oven, fridge and freezer.  Comfortable lounges with TV and Radio.  Wood burning stoves in both houses, with a wood oven in back house.  Sunny decks and lawn to relax on.  Off-street parking.  Short walk to supermarket, restaurants, Internet cafe, pub and info centre.

Children older than 6 years are welcome anytime, under 6 only if the whole House is rented.

Visit Nugget Point lighthouse and the beautiful golden sandy beaches of Cannibal Bay, Surat Bay and Kaka Point.  See the yellow-eyed penguins, Hooker sea lions, elephant seals and New Zealand fur seals in their natural habitat.  Enjoy a personalized horse ride through native forest and along pristine sandy beaches with Te Taunga Adventures.

An ideal base to explore the stunning Catlins scenery.  Great walks and plenty of wildlife.
